On the Farm, Chinese New Year and Exploring self love on Valentine's Day

28th Feb 2023

For the topic on the farm, the children thoroughly enjoyed an array of hands on activities to experience what life is like as a farmer. We got our hands dirty looking after the cows, pigs and sheep, we sheared 'Nelly' our sheep and made woolly jumpers, we searched for eggs and explored tractor tracks using paint. We talked about where are food and milk comes from, designed and made our own pizzas, made soda farls and pancakes and made our own butter and ice cream.

We then devoted a whole week to Chinese New Year and learned it was the year of the rabbit. We tried to use chopsticks and write numbers in Chinese. We even made a stir fry and tried delicious food like prawn crackers, spring rolls and very spicy chilli sauce.

For Valentine's Day we made cards for the ones we love, gave out little gifts to show our love to our friends and had a self love day where we pampered ourselves with a foot spa and massages.
