The children in Primary 5 are studying George’s Marvellous Medicine by Ronald Dahl. They read that when George made his magic medicine, it frothed and foamed and fizzed. The boys and girls re-created their own foaming fizzy potion using bicarbonate of soda, washing-up liquid and lemon juice. The bicarbonate of soda when mixed with lemon juice forms a carbon dioxide gas creating bubbles. It reacts with the washing-up liquid to create more bubbles. We added food colouring for fun. The children loved this science experiment.
