Making Compost for our Garden To Grow!
28th Mar 2025
This term every class at Dungannon PS is working with Ms Hull to learn about where some of our food comes from and how to grow it sustainably. As part of our Farm to Fork initiative we are keen to grow a variety of food produce and also encourage pollinators to visit our garden to improve our biodiversity. We have been learning how to compost our food scraps and garden waste using our tumbling compost bin. We are learning how to plant a seed and look after the tiny seedlings that sprout from our compost filled pots. We have been using compost donated by our local council to plant lots of seeds in the hope of a beautiful floral display and a bountiful harvest of fruit and vegetables over the next few months! We have to keep our seedlings moist and ensure they are in a warm and sunny position to help them grow strong. We'll be planting other vegetables directly into our raised beds in our lovely Garden to Grow.
